Equity, diversity and inclusion
We’re dedicated to creating a diverse, flexible, equitable and happy work environment where everyone can thrive as their truest selves. Equity, diversity and inclusion(ED&I) are fundamental to who we are as an organisation.
We respect, value and celebrate differences amongst our own people, our partners and within the diverse communities of patients whose lives we seek to improve. And we know that by integrating ED&I into everything we do, we are more likely to achieve our goals and deliver impact to our patients.

Our ED&I Vision
Our vision is to foster inclusion by bringing together coalitions of our people, partners and patients to tackle critical health challenges through translational science.
We will build our teams, organisation and our partnerships to reflect the communities that we belong to and the values we hold; we will collaborate with a diversity of patient representatives at every stage to enable greater innovation in healthcare solutions and more equitable healthcare outcomes.

Our ED&I strategy pillars
Inclusive culture, from recruitment to retention
Inclusive funding and engagement practices
Inclusive science and research
Colleague support networks
Our Colleague Support Networks will give you the opportunity to connect with colleagues with similar lived experiences and/or identities.
We currently have four thriving networks:
- LGBTQ+ Network
- Neurodiversity network
- Parents and Carers Network
- Menopause Network
Our networks provide a supportive space for members and are also involved in organising or supporting organisation-wide events to raise awareness, celebrate or promote open conversations around different lived experiences. We have welcomed many external speakers from different communities or organisations to share their experiences and knowledge with us.
Working in partnership
We are proud to be a Disability Confident Employer.
We are an active member of the EDIS (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Science and Health) Group, founded at the Frances Crick Institute.
We are a member organisation of Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion (ENEI) and Inclusive Employers.
In 2024, we were delighted to have been awarded a bronze award in ENEI’s Talent Inclusion and Diversity Evaluation benchmarking tool, designed to measure how well an organisation is cultivating a positive and inclusive culture.

Gender pay gap
We have measured and reported our gender pay since 2021. Now, with the growth of our organisation, we will register our data as required by the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
You can read our recent gender pay gap report here.
We know that the underlying reasons for our gender pay gap are varied and complex. We are working to reduce the gap directly and indirectly via our ED&I strategy. We want LifeArc to be the best workplace it can be. Taking action to address the gender pay gap is a key part of achieving this.
You can read about our plans for addressing the gap in the report link above.
We will continue to track our progress by analysing and publishing our data. Our next report will be published by April 2026.
