About the role:

As Senior Scientist, you will primarily run multi-marker single B-cell sorting experiments, including complex data analysis to support our internal and external antibody discovery projects. 

Working with our national and international collaborators and our internal scientist teams, you will work to deliver the next generation of therapeutics across a wide range of disease areas. 


Key responsibilities:

  • Independently design, run and analyse single-B-cell sorting experiments for our portfolio of antibody discovery projects. 
  • Independently design and apply multi-colour cytometry panels and selection strategies guided by our established SOPs. 
  • Perform in-depth analysis of flow cytometric data, including clear visualisation and presentation of large data sets. 
  • Summarise, interpret and if required, troubleshoot the results and clearly present the findings and conclusions.


(Essential) experience required: 

  • Proven experience in single-cell fluorescent activated cell sorting (FACS)
  • Familiarity with various flow cytometry data analysis software (e.g. FlowJo and FACS Diva)
  • In-depth technical knowledge of flow cytometry standards, protocols, best practices, troubleshooting and sorting instrumentation
  • Background knowledge and experience in immunology


(Essential) Education: 

  • PhD in a relevant branch of biosciences or highly relevant extensive laboratory experience in cellular immunology including FACS


Desirable:


  • Experience in an academic core facility or industry, including sorting a wide variety of cell types, preferably in connection with B-cells and in vivo-based antibody discovery strategies
  • Experience with BD FACS Aria Fusion
  • Experience preparing immune cells from tissues
  • Specific experience in B-cell and/or plasma cell isolation techniques


Skills & abilities:


  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to solve problems and act as a critical and analytical thinker
  • Ability to work well with others and under time pressure
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
