At LifeArc, equity, diversity and inclusion (ED&I) are fundamental to who we are and how we deliver our mission. We are committed to embedding ED&I across every aspect of our work, from our people policies and practices, to strategic decision-making, partnerships, stakeholder engagement, and the way we approach science and research.
Our ED&I Strategy 2025-2027 sets out our ambition to create a culture where everyone feels respected, valued, included and able to thrive. The strategy is built around three pillars: People, Science and Ecosystem, recognising that meaningful progress requires action across our workforce, our research and innovation activities, and the broader communities and organisations we work with.
We are committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment where colleagues can bring their whole selves to work, feel a strong sense of belonging, and contribute their best. Our colleague-led support networks play an important role in achieving this by providing opportunities for connection, peer support, learning and advocacy. We currently have active networks for:
- LGBTQ+ colleagues and allies
- Neurodivergent colleagues and allies
- Parents and Carers
- Menopause
- Global Majority Voices
Our networks work closely with Executive Sponsors and colleagues across the organisation to raise awareness, celebrate diversity, and help shape policies, practices and initiatives that promote inclusion.
We recognise that building an inclusive culture requires continuous learning. We provide colleagues and managers with access to training, resources and development opportunities that support inclusive leadership, reduce barriers, and increase understanding of different lived experiences. Throughout the year we also mark a range of national awareness events and heritage months, creating opportunities for education, discussion and celebration across the organisation.
We are committed to ensuring our recruitment processes are fair, inclusive and accessible. As a Disability Confident Employer, we guarantee an interview to candidates with a disability or long-term health condition who meet the essential criteria for the role. If you have a disability/ long term condition that meets the definition set out in the Equality Act 2010, and you meet the ‘essential’ criteria described in the person specification for an available position, please answer ‘YES’ to the question: ‘Do you wish to be considered under the Guaranteed Interview Scheme?’
