Helen Chamberlain is a Scientific Advisor in Data Access and Analysis at NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, UK), where she helps ensure NICE uses a broad range of evidence in its products. Her career began in the NHS as a Clinical Scientist in Radiotherapy Physics, working in hospitals in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Manchester. During this time, she also taught on multiple higher education courses, including for The Christie Institute for Cancer Education and the University of Manchester.
Having realised she was particularly interested in how healthcare data could be used to help improve patient outcomes and experiences and reduce health inequities, she took up a role in Health Data at Macmillan Cancer Support, before taking up her current role at NICE. She has contributed to a range of campaigns and research and sat on the audit advisory committee for the National Audit of Metastatic Breast Cancer.
