Ghada has over 20 years of experience in both the public and private sector developing and executing research strategies at national and international levels. She joins LifeArc from the International Centre for AMR Solutions (ICARS) where she was Head of Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement. Ghada’s role focused on shaping and delivering on ICARS’ mission and strategy, bridging the gap between science and policy, and working in close collaboration with a range of stakeholders to tackle AMR in low- and middle-income countries.
She was previously the Science and Innovation Lead on AMR at Wellcome overseeing the organisation’s support of the CARB-X programme, the Global Burden of Disease project amongst others. In addition, she spent over nine years at the UK MRC developing and delivering on their AMR, infectious diseases and public health research areas. During that time, she established the UK AMR Cross Research Council Initiative and the UK AMR Funders Forum and represented the UK at the European Joint Programming Initiative on AMR.
Ghada holds a PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology, an MSc in Agriculture and Animal Sciences and is currently working towards her MSc in Global Health Policy. In addition, she is a trustee on the governing body of Antibiotic Research UK.
