A very warm welcome to three new Trustees who have joined our Board.

Sue Wallcraft, Ian Nicholson and Dr Ian Gilham bring vital skills and experience to help us work towards our new strategy. We are looking forward to working closely with them in the future.

They join after long-serving Trustees, Peter Keen and Dr Sally Burtles, stepped down from the Board earlier this year. Thank you to Peter and Sally for their commitment and expertise over the years.

About our new trustees

Sue is an experienced general counsel and company secretary with over 25 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry and health charities, and brings significant legal and governance knowledge to the Board.

“I am a passionate believer in the need to improve translation of medical research and drug discovery into treatments and diagnostics,” she says. “I am delighted to be joining LifeArc as a Trustee at such an exciting time in its evolution.”

Ian Nicholson has over 35  years of international experience in management and transactions within the life sciences sector.

“I am really excited about becoming a Trustee at LifeArc and the potential we now have to make a real difference to the lives of patients suffering with unmet medical need,” says Ian. “My background in both operational management and venture financing in life sciences will, I hope, make a valuable contribution to the charity’s objective to have a major positive impact on UK scientific innovation and truly improve human health.”

Ian Gilham brings significant international experience in research, development and commercialisation of diagnostic and pharmaceutical products.

On joining LifeArc’s Board, Ian says: “After a long commercial career in life sciences companies around the world, it’s a very exciting time to be joining LifeArc as it goes through substantial change. With a talented and highly experienced team, wide network of academic collaborators and the resources to put plans into action we have an opportunity to make a real impact on the lives of patients suffering with some of the world’s most complex and rare diseases. I’m very much looking forward to joining the team and contributing to a very exciting future.”

A team effort

Collectively, our Board of Trustees plays a key role in helping us achieve our purpose and make life science life changing.

“I’m truly delighted that Sue, Ian and Ian have agreed to become Trustees of LifeArc,” says our Chair Dr John Stageman. “They will bring invaluable and complimentary professional experience and skills to the Board just as the Charity is poised to start implementing its new Strategy.”

“The Board must play its part in delivering the challenge of using our exceptional asset base to translate medical innovations to benefit patients faster, alongside our multiple strategic partners,” he continues. “I am supremely confident that Sue, Ian and Ian will help us rise to this challenge!”
