If you’re a researcher in an MRC unit or institute, we can provide you with a comprehensive range of specialist technology transfer services. Please get in touch to find out how we can help you with:
Protecting your new ideas
Each MRC unit and institute has a dedicated LifeArc business manager who will work with you to identify inventions with commercial potential. Your business manager will help you protect your ideas and find industry partners who can develop them with you towards the market. If you think your work might have commercial potential, please talk to your business manager.
Funding your commercially promising early stage research
LifeArc runs the Development Gap Fund (DGF), an MRC fund that supports small-scale studies. The DGF builds on research undertaken in MRC units and institutes to provide proof of concept for projects with commercial potential. It’s intended to help you make the transition from discovery research towards translational development – and so underpin follow-on translational funding schemes such as the MRC Developmental Pathway Funding Scheme(DPFS). LifeArc will consider projects with specific, translational goals from their earliest stages. Your project might aim to improve prevention, diagnosis or treatment in areas of significant clinical need. Or it might focus on developing research tools that could lead to new interventions. Collaborative drug discovery and antibody engineering
Our Centre for Therapeutics Discovery collaborates with academic researchers on small molecule and therapeutic antibody projects. Through it, you can access our expertise in assay development, high throughput screening (HTS), medicinal chemistry, antibody engineering and affinity maturation. Please visit callfortargets.org for more information.
If you have a promising target, find out more and contact our team (insert link to drug discovery page).
Awards to inventors
When we successfully team an invention with an industrial partner, we share all revenue with the MRC, inventors employed by the MRC, and any collaborating institutions. You can find more information on the Awards to Inventors scheme for MRC employees in the MRC Intellectual Property Policy.
