Transgenic mouse model of human tauopathy.

The line expresses human 0N4R Tau with a P301S mutation under the control of the murine Thy1 promoter. The P301S mutation causes a dominantly inherited tauopathy in humans. The transgenic mouse model recapitulates many hallmarks of tauopathy, including tau hyperphosphorylation, tau filament formation and neurodegeneration in brain and spinal cord.

Strain name

Thy1-hTau.P301S

Genetic Background

CBA x C57BL6
