About the role:

 

The payroll and benefits co-ordinator sits within the busy HR team at LifeArc and works closely with colleagues in our finance team. The role is responsible for the accurate and timely submission of payroll for approval, monthly data analysis & reporting. This role will drive process improvement opportunities (system, process and ways working) and will have responsibility for the administration and processing of all employee benefits in accordance with associated deadlines. This position will exercise excellent independent judgement, and act with a sense of urgency, managing highly privileged and confidential data. Will be seen as a trusted business partner for Finance and HR.   

 

 

About you – you will:

 

  • Administer the payroll monthly with zero errors ensuring compliance with business and legal requirements
  • Ensure monthly cycle processes are undertaken efficiently and effectively
  • Complete payroll reconciliations
  • Complete pension uploads monthly 
  • Administer tax year end processing including P11d and P60
  • Conduct all basic calculations relating to employee contractual variations including (but not limited to) loans, maternity, shared parental leave and terms and conditions affected by changes to working patterns 
  • Process invoices and raising purchase orders
  • Provide reports and analysis in relation to all payroll & benefits data offering insight
  • Work with the HR Coordinator to monitor the HR Inbox and respond to queries, actioning or escalating where required and be the main point of contact for all payroll and benefit queries 
  • Ensure the HR system is up to date with payroll related information, and data is input accurately 
  • Work with the HR Coordinator to maintain HR records and ensure systems are kept up to date 
  • Work closely with the Senior Manager of Operations, conduct monthly check-in meeting with Finance to support system and process improvement activities 
  • Take action to ensure payroll and benefit projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and alternative solutions and develop plans to implement them 
  • In the absence of the HR Coordinator support, conduct general administration for the HR team including filing, diary management, room bookings.

 

 

Skills & abilities:


  • Excellent Excel and analysis skills; experience of using pivot tables & VLOOKUP
  • Must be competent in the use of MS Office
  • Excellent system skills for accurate input of data (currently using Dayforce)
  • Able to communicate clearly with a range of people at differing levels
  • Works with high attention to detail
  • Ability to organise and manage time effectively, prioritising own workload to meet deadlines
  • A professional and confident manner with an outcome focused approach
  • Pro-active and efficient
  • Able to provide structure, deal with changing priorities
  • Conscientious with an ability to be flexible and multitask
  • Shows initiative and able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Great customer service delivery at all levels
  • Experience of running payroll, understanding legislation and associated processes
  • Extensive experience of providing reports and analysis to key stakeholders
  • Experience dealing with highly privileged and confidential information
  • Experience of managing multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

 

Education & experience required: 

 

  • A minimum requirement of Maths GCSE is essential
  • A’level education or equivalent preferred.
  • Any payroll specific vocational qualifications would be advantageous (but not essential)
