At LifeArc, we want to hear from people who are as passionate as we are about making life science life changing that can improve patients’ lives.

A bit about the role:

The Opportunity Assessment Group (OAG) provides a central resource for LifeArc, researching and analysing the potential of translational life science opportunities. The group is responsible for detailed scientific, competition and intellectual property analysis, delivering diligence and landscaping that informs on projects and on the strategic areas of future translational research for the charity. As such it occupies a central role in shaping strategy, project selection and portfolio management in line with our 2030 plan for patient impact. The team supports the LifeArc Ventures team, our Translational Challenge teams and Translational Advice capabilities for our charity partners.

The Senior Analyst for Ventures will primarily act as the OAG subject matter expert to support the LifeArc Ventures investment decisions but may also be expected to contribute expertise to other projects in other areas of LifeArc (for example support for the Translational Challenges). You will be expected to deliver analysis (yourself and by managing others) of life sciences investment opportunities across a broad range of disease areas that will span a range of therapeutic, diagnostic and digital/device modalities. This will be a holistic analysis of the opportunity, but with a focus on scientific rigor, as well as potential for commercial success and patient impact. The Senior Analyst will work very closely with the OAG Principal who acts as OAG’s Business Partner for LifeArc Ventures and collaboratively with the rest of the Ventures team to deliver LifeArc Ventures objectives. In addition, the Senior Analyst will proactively contribute to the wider OAG team, taking on matrix and line management responsibilities and helping to train and mentor more junior members of the team.

About you:

Education & experience required:

We are looking for someone educated to PhD level in biological sciences or with equivalent experience. You will have some experience of conducting technical, IP and commercial due diligence and landscaping using desk-based information resources and by consulting with key opinion leaders and may have come from a background in biotech, consulting, technology transfer or similar. Ideally you will have experience of evaluating a range of therapeutic, diagnostic and digital opportunities. Matrix and/or line management experience is preferred. You will have worked in a role where you have interacted regularly with senior internal and external stakeholders and will be able to point to examples where your input has had a direct impact on strategic decision making. In addition, we require some experience and understanding of science translation/commercialisation, with a focus on new venture creation.

Skills & abilities:

Critical thinker. Fast learner and excellent analytical skills

Ability to communicate clearly and with impact to concisely convey complex analysis.

Ability to influence senior internal and external stakeholders.

Lead by example, motivating others in LifeArc and exhibiting LifeArc’s Principles of purpose, innovation, collaboration and commitment to ensure that we deliver excellence.

Proactive approach to innovating and driving improvements.

Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple conflicting priorities and providing solutions to complex problems.

About us:

At LifeArc, our ambition is to make life science life changing. We do this by advancing scientific discoveries beyond the lab, faster, so that they can shape the next generation of diagnostics, treatments, and cures.

Working at the cutting edge of translational science and as the early-stage translation specialists, we progress scientific discoveries on their journey to becoming a medicine, diagnostic or intervention that can improve patients’ lives. Our work begins by seeking out innovative science, then helping to develop this to a point where there is a clinical and commercial pathway for others to invest the time and money to take it further forward.

What we can offer you:

Salary will be determined by qualifications and experience along with other exceptional benefits. Because we understand everyone has different requirements, our flexible benefits allow you to choose those which are important to you. Our pension scheme offers employer contributions of up to 12%, private health insurance, and annual leave of 31 days PLUS bank holidays.

Join us, and you’ll have the scope to be creative and take measured risks. You’ll be rewarded for your curiosity, for working as one team, and for learning fast. And you’ll have everything you need to be your best every day.

Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people from minority ethnic backgrounds, for example, are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At LifeArc we are dedicated in building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace, so whatever your background or lived experience, if you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. Our top priority is finding the best candidate and you may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.

We all have potential. At LifeArc, you’ll discover what you can really do with it.
