LifeArc, we want to hear from people who are as passionate as we are about making life science life changing that can improve patients’ lives.
A bit about the role:
The Opportunity Assessment Group (OAG) provides a central resource for LifeArc, researching and analysing the potential of translational life science opportunities. The group is responsible for detailed scientific, competition and intellectual property analysis, delivering diligence and landscaping that informs on projects and on the strategic areas of future translational research for the charity. As such, it occupies a central role in shaping strategy, project selection and portfolio management in line with our 2030 plan for patient impact. The team supports the LifeArc Ventures team, our Translational Challenge teams and Translational Advice capabilities for our charity partners.
Success in this role means that you will be able to effectively and efficiently apply established processes to manage diligence projects for OAG (therapeutics, diagnostics, devices, digital health, other). This will involve carrying out scientific, technical, commercial and IP diligence according to predetermined processes. Outputs of the diligence are presented to internal and external stakeholders to inform strategic decision making. Diligence produced may have a direct influence on the company portfolio. You will be expected to interact credibly with leading experts, scientists and clinicians within academia and the pharmaceutical industry and to work collaboratively with other teams within LifeArc. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to work in translational science and is considering a career path that would take them away from academic bench science. You will work across the range of LifeArc’s Translational Challenges, but ideally will have some expertise in infectious disease to support Global Health and Respiratory Health themes.
We are looking for someone educated to PhD level in biological sciences or with equivalent experience. Ideally the candidate will have some experience of working within infectious diseases or the antimicrobial resistance space. Candidates should have good general knowledge of biological and medical research and a demonstrable interest in early-stage research translation, drug discovery and/or diagnostic development. You will be supported by a high-quality training program to learn how to deliver intellectual property and competitive landscape analysis.
Skills & abilities:
• Quick thinker
• Candidates will welcome an intellectual challenge and be able to quickly understand and critique scientific information
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment across a broad range of biomedical fields
• Articulate – able to clearly present the strengths and weaknesses of an opportunity in written and verbal form
At LifeArc, our ambition is to make life science life changing. We do this by advancing scientific discoveries beyond the lab, faster, so that they can shape the next generation of diagnostics, treatments, and cures.
Working at the cutting edge of translational science and as the early-stage translation specialists, we progress scientific discoveries on their journey to becoming a medicine, diagnostic or intervention that can improve patients’ lives. Our work begins by seeking out innovative science, then helping to develop this to a point where there is a clinical and commercial pathway for others to invest the time and money to take it further forward.

Salary will be determined by qualifications and experience along with other exceptional benefits.
